SONS OF GODZILLA

The Covid-19 is still spreading devastation across the world, while science is trying to catch up to a too-fast virus, and the available vaccines are at least starting to open the doors to a more active posture, as opposed to a defensive, passive one, against an invisible and very deadly killer.

Science is doing its best to uncover the secrets of a virus that, so far, is proving faster that humankind's best weapon, scientific knowledge. It is so fast that it's progeniture, through mutations, is getting more numerous and more potent. Many micro-generations since the discovery of the virus, it's new versions, known as variants, themselves the fruit of series of mutations, are becoming more dangerous than the first known ones. Clearly, the adaptative qualities of that virus are proving impressive, making it more nimble than our science, at least so far.

There was the English variant, then the South African one, then the Brasilian one. Now, there's two new ones, both called Californian (i.e. B-1-427 and B-1-429). Those mutants are stronger, more resilient and more dangerous than their ancestors.

To speak in paraboles, they're the Sons of Godzilla, offspring of a mutant legendary monster created by the imagination of some inhabitants of Japan in the years following the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. Remember Pearl Harbor, said the Americans at the start of the Pacific War. Let's not forget Hiroshima, thought the Japanese at its end.

Now, it's not just Godzilla punishing Tokyo for the rape of Nanking. It's Godzilla 2.0 punishing first modern-day Hankow (Wuhan), up the Yangtse, then, afterward, it's its relatives, Mothra and the like, all the rest of a quite nasty and mutated family, attacks other cities of the world, large or small: New York, London, Paris, Rio, Moscow, etc.

May Mother Nature (Gaïa) and Father Science (Calculus) help us vainquish this evil...
